Position Overview
As a senior member of the Platform Software team you will make a crucial contribution to the entire TollBridge product line, particularly during development of Next-Generation media Gateways. You will work with hardware designers to bring-up new boards based on the latest microprocessors. You will participate in design reviews and contribute to next generation hardware designs. You will be responsible for development in the following key areas: - RTOS development (vxWorks/Tornado). Development of vxWorks RTOS for the voice gateway. This includes new hardware bring-up, BSP development, OS porting, serial and Ethernet driver development, SDRAM, flash drivers and cache/MMU performance.
- TDM interfaces. Software development for voice gateway T1/E1 and TDM hardware components and interfaces. Design/development of functionality/device drivers for T1/E1, STS-1 line card interfaces, framers, alarms, control software, and cross connects to H.110 TDM bus.
- ATM device drivers and switch fabric development. Operating system and hardware development for the ATM communication pathways in the voice gateway. Design and development of device drivers and system functionality for the MPC860SAR and IDT switch fabric.
- Broadband interfaces. Software development for voice gateway broadband interfaces. Includes design/development of device drivers and system functionality for SONET (OC-3, OC-12), Gigabit Ethernet, DS3, and CAM&ASIC based, layer 3 packet-forwarding engines.
Requirements of Position
Experience - Minimum 7 years vxWorks RTOS experience in a real-time, embedded development.
- Minimum 7 years structured C programming.
- Minimum 3 years experience in a team leadership position.
Skills We are looking for an exceptionally talented software engineer that has the following skills to augment his or her experience: - Developed embedded software for real-time systems; possesses thorough understanding of object oriented methodologies.
- Extensive knowledge of vxWorks/Tornado OS internals including BSP and device driver development
- Knowledge of Motorola MPC860 architecture and PowerPC assembly language.
- Solid understanding of T1/E1/TDM telecommunications and ATM technologies

In this senior role as part of the system software group, you will be responsible for many different aspects software design, development and maintenance of our entire product line. In this position you will draw upon your extensive call control / processing knowledge to provide leadership for various redundancy development initiatives in the TollBridge voice gateway system. This area includes architecting new features related to system hot swap and hot standby, data synchronization between active/standby modules and fault tolerance with interface to Class5 switch protocol such as GR-303, V5.2 or soft switch. The software runs on a VxWorks based target, with Tornado and other Wind River Systems tools used for debugging. Other duties include: - Develop new features required for new protocols such as MGCP, NCS, and Frame Relay.
- Design, develop, unit test features as well as making sure the software release is of high quality.
- Working closely with Platform, Telecom, CPE and EMS group.
