TOLLBRIDGE TEAMS WITH SOFTSWITCH AND NEXT-GENERATION SOFTWARE VENDORS TO DRIVE NEW NETWORK APPLICATIONS
five star hotel in AveiroVoice over Broadband Leader Joins with Dominant SoftSwitch and Service Platform Vendors to Define Innovative IP-Centric Services and Applications to Add Value to Installed Voice Network.

SANTA CLARA, Calif., February 25, 2000 - TollBridge Technologies, the leading developer of high-quality voice-over-broadband solutions for a new generation of carriers, today announced as part of its Voice of Broadband Alliance marketing and co-development partnerships with five leading vendors of next-generation network software. TollBridge's SoftSwitch and services platform partners are best-of-breed software companies developing open IP-based platforms that deliver innovative applications and advanced network intelligence for next-generation carriers. These include Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLECs), Cable Multiple Services Operators (MSOs), Inter-exchange Carriers (IXCs), and Application Services Providers (ASPs).

"TollBridge has succeeded in capturing the largest installed base of voice-over Broadband subscribers, enabling CLECs and other carriers to offer familiar voice services at very competitive prices while maintaining superior profitability," said Agnes Imregh, vice president for marketing at TollBridge. "As our customers migrate to next-generation, pure-packet networks, these SoftSwitch and service platform partners will enable us to deliver differentiated, revenue-generating services that complement the PSTN."

The inaugural SoftSwitch partners are:

  • BroadSoft (Gaithersburg, Md.)
  • ipVerse (Sunnyvale, Calif.
  • Telecom Technologies Inc (Richardson, Texas)

"TollBridge's development of these partnerships is proof that SoftSwitch and Services Platform leaders are making the transition from developing technology to delivering services a carrier can sell," said Kevin P. Mitchell, analyst server provider networks, Infonetics Research. "These companies are clearly focused on providing deployable services that enhance what is installed today, not just playing catch-up with the Class 5 switch. Next generation carriers want to be a one-stop shop for data and voice communications. TollBridge and its partners are helping to enable that to happen."

"BroadSoft recognizes Tollbridge's Softswitch and Services Platform Program as an excellent opportunity that will foster the development of new applications and services for integrated communications providers," said Scott Wharton, vice president of marketing at BroadSoft. "By enabling providers to rapidly create and deploy innovative packet-based communications services, BroadSoft and Tollbridge are truly accelerating the convergence of Internet, telephony and messaging."

"We are pleased TollBridge is supporting existing open protocols such as MGCP, which will allow service providers to deploy Softswitch-based network services that extend from the core to the edge. ipVerse will work with TollBridge to extend the reach of voice-over-broadband applications and help service providers get profitable new services up-and-running quickly while maximizing their existing networks," said R. Paul Singh, vice president of business development, ipVerse, Inc.

"Interoperability is emerging as a reality thanks to cooperative efforts like this co-development partnership," said Terri Griffin, vice president of marketing for telecom technologies. "Only through true interoperability between all the elements of converged networks will it be possible to bring to market advanced, profitable services quickly and cost effectively, to the ultimate benefit of business and residential users."
