ipVerse Extends New Voice/Data Applications Without Class Switches

SUNNYVALE, Calif., February 24, 2000 - ipVerse, supplier of next generation software-based switches, today announced a partnering agreement with TollBridge Technologies that allows the companies to mutually extend their reach and bring new voice over broadband applications to telecom service providers. Through joint marketing and co-development initiatives, ipVerse will make available its ControlSwitch, which speeds the delivery of new voice-data services using an open architecture with carrier-grade scalability and reliability. The ControlSwitch enables service providers with or without Class switches the freedom to choose best-of-breed voice over broadband gateways, like TollBridge's industry leading TB 200, while seamlessly integrating into the existing infrastructure.

"ipVerse's ControlSwitch offers the richness and flexibility of an open platform, allowing us to expand our customer base," said Agnes Imregh, VP of Marketing, TollBridge Technologies. "We look forward to working with ipVerse to give service providers the ability to attract and retain customers in new geographic markets with profitable services."

Applications that ipVerse and TollBridge will jointly enable include:

  • Transparent interconnection between PSTN and IP-based softswitches
  • Enhanced Class features such as caller ID, call waiting and 3-way calling
  • Intelligent, distributed caching of subscriber information ("follow-me" services)

hotels in CopenhagenThe ipVerse ControlSwitch is the first multi-protocol call control system, supporting SS7, MGCP, H.323, IPDC, SIP and ISDN-PRI signaling systems, allowing transparent traffic exchange within or between service provider networks. Its simple web-based tools and XML scripts enable service providers and third-party developers to quickly create, deploy and customize new voice and data services, including applications for powerful personal call management.

In a world of rapidly evolving hardware standards, the ControlSwitch eliminates forklift upgrades and creates freedom of choice; users can grow their networks with equipment from various best-of-breed vendors while supporting their investments in existing infrastructure. "We are pleased TollBridge is supporting existing open protocols such as MGCP, which will allow service providers to deploy softswitch based network services that extend from the core to the edge. ipVerse will work with TollBridge to extend the reach of voice over broadband applications and help service providers get profitable new services up-and-running quickly while maximizing their existing networks," said R. Paul Singh, VP of Business Development, ipVerse, Inc.
