hotels in AntwerpSANTA CLARA, Calif., February 25, 2000 - TollBridge Technologies, the leading developer of high-quality, voice-over-broadband solutions for the next generation of carriers, today announced that a new strategic report from the market research firm Synergy Research Group, titled "Q4 and Year-End 1999 Broadband Equipment Market Share Report," named TollBridge Technologies as the leader in the voice-over-broadband market. The report, Which was based on a study of shipments to deploying customers, revealed that TollBridge holds a 100 percent share of the Voice-over-DSL carrier class gateway market.

According to the report, "TollBridge executed on its marketing strategy that enabled it to operate successfully and to fulfill its commitment to ship product in 1999. The company aggressively targeted Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLECs) that serve small business customers, using broadband access such as DSL, and introduced the TB50 and TB200 line of products on schedule to meet customer demand." The study also noted that TollBridge was the only company to announce product availability in 1999 as well as to actually ship product.

"xDSL is a strategic technology which will drive convergence right to the customer and residential demark, providing the advantages of broadband communications to millions of users," said Jeremy Duke, president and founder of Synergy Research Group. "Tollbridge's technology provides a crucial missing piece to today's broadband networks, providing inter-connectivity between xDSL networks and the traditional PSTN in a platform that carriers and CLECs can aggressively deploy today."

"The report confirms our leadership position in the voice-over-broadband market," said Agnes Imregh, vice president of marketing, TollBridge Technologies. "Our goal now is to introduce new products and solutions and to forge new partner relationships that will enhance our position moving forward."

TollBridge recently announced the formation of the Voice of Broadband Alliance, a leadership initiative the company has forged with twenty leading vendors to promote interoperability and standardization among broadband equipment vendors. TollBridge also recently announced a marketing and co-development partnerships with five leading vendors of SoftSwitch and next-generation network software.

  • The TB200, a carrier-grade Local Exchange Gateway that translates packets back into voice and connects to Class 5 switches using the Telcordia GR-303 protocol and new, emerging protocols such as the Segment Interface protocol (SIP) and Media Gateway Control Point (MGCP);
  • The TollViewTM Management Suite, a management system that includes a graphical Element Management System (EMS) for end-to-end configuration, troubleshooting, and performance management of up to 100 TB200 systems from HP OpenViewTM on SUN SolarisTM platforms.
