TELCO SYSTEMS PARTNERS WITH TOLLBRIDGE IN DEVELOPING NETWORK COMPATIBLE MULTI-SERVICE ACCESS SOLUTIONS FOR ITS EDGELINK LINE Becomes Latest Member of TollBridges' Voice of Broadband Alliance to Deliver Interoperable Next-Generation Voice Solutions<Norwood, MA., February 28, 2000 - Telco Systems, currently a division of World Access, which recently reached an agreement for the sale of the division to BATM Advanced Communications of Israel, today announced plans to develop interoperable Multi-service Access solutions with TollBridge Technologies' voice gateways. The company has also joined Tollbridge's Voice of Broadband Alliance to insure interoperability for the end-to-end solutions. Telco Systems' EdgeLink Multi-service solutions provide an enhanced platform for advanced services that support high-density voice and data packet applications. These devices will support emerging packet networks and provide a platform for the seamless migration from circuit-switched TDM to packet-based networks, without the need for forklift upgrades. "Carriers need the cooperation of multiple vendors to offer voice over broadband services for an end-to-end solution," said Agnes Imregh, vice president of marketing for TollBridge Technologies. "Standards, interoperability testing, and a commitment to making systems work together in mass deployment are essential to attain the hyper-growth for voice services that translates into profits for next generation carriers." "Our EdgeLink product line has jumped into a leadership position in many markets and with an aggressive EdgeLink road map successfully underway for 2000, we have very stringent requirements for our packet-based initiatives, including fulfilling our customers' need for seamless migration from circuit to packet-based solutions," said Dave LeBeau, president of Telco Systems. "TollBridge has been able to meet these requirements, plus offer us the confidence, through their Voice of Broadband program, that interoperability issues are at the forefront of their strategy." About Voice of Broadband TollBridge has spearheaded the alliance program to accelerate large-scale deployments by next generation carriers: competitive local exchange carriers (CLEC), inter exchange carriers (IXC), ISPs, MSOs and cable operators. Alliance partners include the leading providers of DSL, cable and wireless access equipment, integrated access devices (IAD), integrated communications platforms (ICP), semiconductor solutions, and next generation switching and services software platforms. To encourage this interoperability effort, TollBridge has launched three groundbreaking initiatives: - Open Source Code Licensing for CPE Design
TollBridge is making available a GNU GPL (General Public License) version of its DSL Forum-compliant IAD protocol. The code will be available from the TollBridge website to facilitate rapid partner development and break down barriers to interoperability. - Interoperability Lab
At its headquarters in Santa Clara, TollBridge is hosting an interoperability lab specifically for Voice of Broadband Alliance partners to ensure product interoperability. Products passing all tests receive Powered by TollBridge certification and associated logo for display in marketing materials. - Joint Standards Promotion
TollBridge is committed to an open standards environment for voice over broadband equipment providers. TollBridge is investing resources to jointly fund standards promotion and interoperability activities, as well as providing partners with promotional space and equipment at industry events.
