TollBridge Certifies TB200 Voice Gateway Interoperability with Integrated Access Devices from Five Leading Vendors SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 6, 2000 - The largest portfolio of interoperable Integrated Access Devices (IADs) in the voice-over-broadband market is now available, TollBridge Technologies, Inc., the leading developer of high-quality voice-over-broadband solutions for the new generation of carriers, announced today. The company has verified that Integrated Access Devices (IADs) from five leading vendors-ADTRAN, Inc. (Nasdaq: ADTN); Copper Mountain Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: CMTN); Ramp Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: RAMP); SmartLink; and Xpeed, Inc.-are interoperable with its TB200 Voice Gateway. These products meet the needs of customers in all major niches of the IAD market, from residential customers to medium-sized businesses. "The greater the choice of products, the more attractive the voice-over-broadband market becomes to service providers-they don't want to be limited to only a few markets because their gateway vendor can't deliver on the IAD side. Proven Interoperability All five vendors are members of the Voice of Broadband Alliance, a leadership initiative spearheaded by TollBridge that promotes interoperability and standardization. The goal of the alliance is to accelerate large-scale deployments of voice over broadband by next-generation carriers, including Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLECs), Interexchange Carriers (IXCs), Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Multiple Service Operators (MSOs), and cable operators. Alliance partners include the leading providers of DSL, cable, and wireless access equipment; IADs; integrated communications platforms (ICPs); semiconductor solutions; and next-generation switching and services software platforms. As part of the Voice of Broadband Alliance, TollBridge makes its source code available to partners to facilitate product development. Partners can use the Alliance's Interoperability Lab to ensure their products are interoperable with TollBridge's voice gateway and network management products. Products that pass all tests receive the Voice of Broadband Alliance certification and use of the associated logo for display in marketing materials. "This initial phase of interoperability testing went exceptionally well," said Chien-Shun Chu, manager of the Voice of Broadband Alliance Interoperability Lab. "Products from all five vendors easily met the criteria for certification. The lab continues to do extensive testing on products from other partners, and we expect a steady stream of certified products to emerge during the coming months." IADs Powered by TollBridge The Interoperability Lab has certified the following IADs for interoperability with the TB200 gateway: ADTRAN Total Access 850 Designed for small to medium-sized businesses, the Total AccessTM 850 from ADTRAN is a next-generation TDM-to-packet IAD that integrates voice and data functions and provides a viable migration path from TDM to packet-based technology. The Total Access 850 features remote management, an integrated IP/IPX router, and special service slots. "The Total Access 850 offers the flexibility needed for a wide range of potential customer configurations," said Danny Windham, ADTRAN vice president and general manager, Enterprise Networks Division. "Our compatibility with the TollBridge TB200 Voice Gateway is evidence of ADTRAN's support for industry interoperability. This allows customers such as CLECs, ILECs, and ISPs to select the products and suppliers best suited to meet their specific needs." Copper Mountain CopperRocket 408 SDSL IAD The CopperRocket 408 Symmetric DSL (SDSL) IAD for converged voice and data services delivers eight lines of toll-quality voice plus high-speed data over a single-pair, conventional copper telephone line at selectable speeds from 128 kbps to 1.568 Mbps. The IAD connects readily to existing data and voice equipment at the customer premises, including analog phone, fax, and key systems, and it provides lifeline phone services, even during loss of power. "Voice over DSL is an enormous market opportunity," said Keith Higgins, product marketing director at Copper Mountain. "Interoperability has always been a cornerstone of our strategy, and ensuring the CopperRocket 408 is compatible with leading VoDSL solutions such as the TollBridge TB 200 is key to our success." Smart Link DSLSNAPP Smart Link has incorporated TollBridge's TollVoice technology into its family of IADs, the Digital Subscriber Line Simple Network Access Point Products (DSLSNAPPTM). These products combine unparalleled simplicity, carrier service options, and management capabilities to bridge the gap between the SOHO (small office-home office) environment and carrier networks. "Smart Link's goal is to make integrated voice/data connectivity as easy as possible for its SOHO customers," said Laura Hanks, director of sales and marketing for convergence products at Smart Link. "Membership in the Voice of Broadband Alliance and the associated certification program enables us to enhance the power of our PC-based IAD solution." Ramp WebRamp 2000V The WebRamp 2000V IAD delivers business-class voice, data, and security services to the small office. The WebRamp 2000V scales from eight to 16 voice ports and supports SDSL speeds of up to 2.3 Mbps. Features include advanced NAT, routing, security, VPN gateway, 10/100 Ethernet, and a built-in lifeline for DSL line or power failure. "Interoperability ensures plug-and-play compatibility and maximum performance between the WebRamp 2000V and TollBridge's high quality voice gateway," said Raghu Bathina, vice president of product management for Ramp Networks. "With the Voice of Broadband Alliance and certification program, Ramp and TollBridge will deliver voice and high value data services to the end customer." Xpeed 320V The 320V is a new generation IAD specifically designed to enable service providers to quickly deploy bundled voice and data service to small and medium business with minimal on-site service and maintenance support. Four 10BaseT Ethernet hub ports, and up to eight POTS, enable connections to standard telephones, fax, key systems, PBX, and PCs. The analog ports support all CLASS features such as Caller ID, Call Waiting, and messaging. The 320V can also be configured as a router or Ethernet bridge with features that include security, VPN, and SNMP network management.
