TOLLBRIDGE TECHNOLOGIES DEMONSTRATES MOST COMPLETE RANGE OF VOICE OVER BROADBAND SOLUTONS IN THE INDUSTRY
TollBridge's Voice-Over-Broadband Solutions Now Available for Cable, Fiber Optics, Wireless and DSL, via Nortel Networks, World Wide Packets, Wireless Inc. & Mpower Communications

SANTA CLARA, Calif., January 15, 2001hoteles Valencia - TollBridge Technologies, the leading developer of high-quality, voice-over-broadband solutions for the new generation of carriers, today announced that it now provides high-quality voice solutions across the full spectrum of broadband transport media: cable, fiber optics, wireless and the local copper loop.

Groningen hotel roomsTollBridge has attained this comprehensive broadband offering though partnerships with leading industry vendors, including: Nortel Networks, which works with TollBridge to provide voice-over-cable solutions to the leading Multiple Service Operators (MSOs); Mpower, which has the largest voice-over-DSL deployment to date and was the first to use TollBridge's voice-over DSL (VoDSL) solution; Wireless, Inc., who works with TollBridge to deliver its voice-over-wireless solution; and now World Wide Packets, a solutions provider for optical broadband connectivity, has announced a joint public demonstration to deliver its voice-over-fiber solution using TollBridge's TB200 Gateway at SuperNet 2001 - January 15 -16, at booth no. 423 in the Santa Clara Convention Center.

[Editor's note: TollBridge will demo all of these solutions SuperNet, June 15 - 16, at booth no. 423 in Santa Clara, CA Convention Center]

"Packetized voice-over-broadband promises to be one of the fastest-growing markets of the new millennium," said Agnes Imregh, vice president of marketing at TollBridge. "This announcement underscores both our commitment and our optimal position to leverage the enormous opportunity represented by all four major market segments."

World Wide Packets Plans TollBridge-based Voice-Over-Fiber Service

World Wide Packets is partnering with TollBridge at SuperNet to demonstrate voice-over-fiber connectivity for transporting voice and data utilizing the World Wide Packets LightningEdge Access Portal (LE-21) and the TollBridge TB200 local exchange gateway. The gateway now supports packetized voice-over-fiber in the last mile (or local loop), enabling end customers to use legacy phones and receive transparent access to all calling features to which they are accustomed to, such as call forwarding, caller ID, call waiting etc. Individual customers benefit from "always on" high bandwidth access to the Internet at bandwidth as high as 1000 Mbps.

"TollBridge enables World Wide Packets with the ability to add carrier-class voice to the full suite of IP-based broadband services we offer our customers," said Octavio Morales, vice president of marketing for World Wide Packets. "From an end-user perspective, voice is certainly one of the most ubiquitous services today. TollBridge has proven that it has a deployable, scalable solution."

Nortel Networks and TollBridge Voice-Over-Cable Solution

The TollBridge TB200 Voice Gateway - the industry-leading, carrier-class platform for delivering IP telephony over broadband networks - is the centerpiece of Nortel's voice-over-packet cable solution to existing Class 5 switches. By facilitating communications with a Data-over-Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) network, the gateway allows superior voice quality and services for cable MSOs. Because the TollBridge solution takes advantage of all of the CLASS and custom calling services that a Class 5 switch delivers, customers can expect to get the same services that they currently receive from their Incumbent Local Exchange Carriers (ILECs).

Wireless, Inc., Plans TollBridge-based Voice-over-Wireless Service

Wireless, Inc., who designs, manufactures, and markets advanced wireless broadband communication systems for networking and telephony interconnection solutions, has partnered with TollBridge to provide voice-over-wireless solutions to service providers as part of its broadband wireless voice and data service. Broadband wireless access technology enables high-speed network access without many of the problems and restrictions faced by wireline networks, such as high cost and slow time to market. Due to the lack of an existing wired infrastructure, broadband wireless connection is often the best option for high-speed communication in remote areas and in many developing countries. In these regions, wireless technologies provide clear advantages over wired networks, including lower cost, faster deployment, greater flexibility and increased reliability.

"We see voice integration with data as a crucial element in our total wireless solution," said Bill Palumbo, CEO at Wireless, Inc. "TollBridge had the foresight to develop a voice solution for wireless broadband providers, and now has a ready-made solution available, enabling us to provide our customers with rapid deployment and implementation of our services."

Mpower Deploys TollBridge Voice-Over-DSL Solution

As the first to deploy the TollBridge family of IP-based, multiline, voice-over-DSL (VoDSL) solutions, Mpower uses the TollBridge TB200 Voice Gateway to deliver bundled voice and data services to small- and medium-size business customers. The TB200 connects with Class 5 digital telephony switches in Mpower's existing central office territories, delivering integrated voice and data services to businesses who previously subscribed to voice and data services separately. In addition, Mpower uses the TollBridge TB50 Integrated Access Device (IAD) to deliver the voice and data services onto the customer premises.

"TollBridge's packet-based solution has enabled Mpower to realize network efficiencies in deploying our VoDSL service," said Joseph Wetzel, President of Operations for Mpower. "The TollBridge solution allows Mpower to offer quality voice services to subscribers, while sharpening our revenue-generating potential and enabling value-rich converged voice and data solutions for end users."
