POLYCOM COMPLETES VOICE-OVER-BROADBAND CERTIFICATION TESTING WITH TOLLBRIDGE TECHNOLOGIES VOICE GATEWAY
NetEngine 6200/6300 Verified for Interoperability with TollBridge's TB200 Voice Gateway to Enable VoT1 and VoDSL for Small and Medium-size Businesses

SANTA CLARA, Calif., January 15, 2001 - Polycom®, Inc. (NASDAQ: PLCM), a worldwide leader in broadband communication solutions, and TollBridge Technologies, the leading developer of high-quality, voice-over-broadband solutions for the new generation of carriers, today announced that Polycom's NetEngine 6200 and NetEngine 6300 Integrated Access Devices (IAD) have been certified under TollBridge's certification program for interoperability with TollBridge's TB200 broadband voice gateway and TollView Element Management System. Completion of these tests means that telecommunications service providers, such as CLECs, ILECs and ISPs, can now provide integrated voice and data services and achieve the highest levels of voice quality while maintaining the integrity of existing network infrastructure.

The combination of TollBridge's carrier-class architecture and Polycom's industry-leading IADs is expected to drive the deployment of voice-over-broadband service (including VoT1 and VoDSL) and help competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs) offer small and medium-sized businesses access to affordable telecommunications rates.

Polycom's completion of certification testing with the TollBridge TB200 broadband voice gateway will allow small to medium-sized businesses to deploy VoT1 and VoDSL solutions with the assurance that toll-quality voice levels will be met. TollBridge's testing procedures included TR-57 compliance, bulk call generation, and voice and data Quality of Service (QoS). The Polycom NetEngine products have TR-57-compliant analog voice interfaces that assure toll-quality voice over IP networks. Quality of Service parameters guarantee the priority of voice calls without any degradation of voice quality on converged voice and data circuits.

"We are extremely pleased to certify Polycom's NetEngine products," said George Webb, product line manager for TollBridge Technologies. "We created the TollBridge Voice of Broadband Certification Program because broad interoperability with industry-leading customer premise equipment provides a variety of choices for end-users, and more opportunity for service providers to enhance their offerings and maximize their revenue opportunities."

"TollBridge's position as the deployment leader in the voice-over-broadband market makes the company a valued Polycom partner," said Hans Schwarz, senior vice president and general manager of Polycom's Network Access Products division. "Working with TollBridge enables us to effectively meet the needs of small and medium-sized businesses for easy-to-use and affordable voice-over-broadband services, and allows us to provide high-value voice revenue for our service provider customers."

Polycom's NetEngine Integrated Access Devices

Polycom's NetEngine IADs are integral to VoT1 and VoDSL applications. IADs, located at the customer's facility, enable the transmission of both voice and data over the existing copper pair wiring that is in almost every home and office and onto high-speed broadband networks. The NetEngine family of broadband access equipment is designed specifically for small and medium-sized businesses, as well as the small office/home office (SOHO) and telecommuter markets.
