TOLLBRIDGE DELIVERS TB200 RELEASE 2.0 TO VOICE OF BROADBAND CUSTOMERS Software Release 2.0 Enables New Applications and Further Increases System ReliabilitySANTA CLARA, Calif., January 16, 2001 - TollBridge Technologies today announced the availability of a major new release of software for its carrier-class voice-over-broadband TB200 Gateway. TollBridge release 2.0 introduces significant new features, expands applicability of the product and further improves TB200 system reliability. "Release 2.0 was based on a lot of customer input, both to support new customers, services and applications as well as to further improve operational features," said Agnes Imregh, vice president marketing, TollBridge Technologies. We believe that the 2.0 product entrenches our market-leading position for voice-over broadband access gateways." New Voice Applications The new Voice II card, Switch II card and OC-3 card more than double the capacity and density of the system to over 1,000 DS0s in a single chassis. New support for interface groups using TR-008 signaling enables connection to a much wider variety of installed Class 5 and Class 4 switches. Release 2.0 also certifies interoperability with a wider array of IADs, DSLAMs, ATM Switches and other network components, dramatically increasing the network configuration options for TollBridge customers. New customer premise devices supported include the Polycom NetEngine 6200 and 6300, and the Adtran Total Access 850. New Adtran and Polycom configuration options also enable CLECs to use clear-channel T1 service to complement voice over DSL and to connect digital PBXs at customer locations. Reliable, Cost-Effective Cable Solutions Release 2.0 introduces significant enhancements in the features, performance and reliability of TollBridge's voice over cable solution. As compared to a voice over IP solution, TollBridge's voice over DOCSIS network solution via TollBrige's TB200 GR303 voice gateway is designed to deliver carrier-class services, using a model similar to reliable POTS service. In addition, the TollBridge approach is far more cost effective than proprietary Constant Bit Rate voice systems, which allows MSOs to deploy both data and voice service over a standard-based DOCSIS network. Enhanced Reliability Further building upon TollBridge Technologies' proven carrier-class reliability, release 2.0 ensures that all new and existing hardware elements are fully redundant with no single point of failure. Actual field measurements of TB200 Gateways in use show system uptime well above 99.9 percent and the 2.0 release is expected to increase system uptime to 4 nines and better. Other features of release 2.0 improve operational performance such as automated system backup, improved control and alarm log history, easier image control and improved system administration security. Availability The TollBridge TB200 Gateway Release 2.0 is available immediately. Release 2.0 is backward compatible with the TollBridge installed base equipment. Existing customers can upgrade to release 2.0 for a nominal upgrade charge.
