TOLLBRIDGE TECHNOLOGIES ANNOUNCES VOIP GATEWAY INTEROPERABILITY WITH LEADING CABLE EQUIPMENT VENDORS
TollBridge's TB300 Becomes Industry's Most Widely Interoperable Voice-over-PacketCable Gateway

SANTA CLARA, Calif., September 17, 2001 - TollBridge Technologies, a leading provider of voice-over-broadband solutions for carriers, has achieved multi-vendor interoperability for its TB300 gateway with leading manufacturers of cable modem termination systems (CMTS) and media terminal adapters (MTA). ADC Telecommunications (Nasdaq: ADCT), Arris (Nasdaq: ARRS), Cadant, Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) and Tellabs (Nasdaq: TLAB) equipment now interoperates with the TollBridge TB300 gateway, which began shipping for trials and deployments this month.

The TB300 gateway has tested for interoperability with the following products:

  • ADC Telecommunications Cuda 12000 CMTS & Edge Router
  • Arris Cornerstone CMTS1000 and PacketPort MTA
  • Cadant C4 CMTS
  • Motorola DCM 2000 CMTS and CG4500E and SB3500 MTAs
  • Tellabs CABLESPAN CVM410 embedded MTA

These five vendors provide DOCSIS 1.1 MTA and CMTS equipment for the cable IP telephony network. The CMTS is an aggregation device and IP router for cable modem subscribers that have data or voice over packet services. The MTA is a residential or small business device located at the subscriber's home or office that derives voice and data services.

"Cable operators need to be able to deliver a diverse range of high speed, value-added services to their customers," said Mitch Auster, vice president of product management in ADC's IP Cable Division. "Interoperability allows them to accomplish this by making it easier to procure and install compatible technologies. The TollBridge TB300 will be instrumental for the completion of the IP cable telephony network as well as for incremental growth of our CMTS and MTA markets."

"TollBridge has consistently maintained a cooperative approach in working with leading industry vendors and will continue to pursue strategic relationships as the VoIP telephony market evolves," said Kevin Woods, vice president of marketing for TollBridge. "Interoperability expedites the process, creates a multi-vendor carrier environment and allows service providers to integrate equipment seamlessly into their networks."
