ARRIS to Install Complete Telephony over IP Solution at Frankfort Plant Board in Kentucky
Duluth, GA, November 18, 2001 - ARRIS (NASDAQ: ARRS), a global communications technology leader, today announced an end-to-end installation of Telephony over IP (ToIPTM), ARRIS carrier-grade voice service over IP, using all ARRIS access equipment. ARRIS equipment and services will be installed at the Frankfort Plant Board (FPB), a municipal utility provider of electric, water and cable telecommunications in Frankfort, Kentucky. The deal is valued at over $2 million to ARRIS. Shipments began in 4Q 2001 and will extend through the end of 2Q 2002. Frankfort will be launching telephony services to its installed base by the end of Q2 2002. The FPB chose ARRIS over other vendors because of ARRIS five year history in deploying and supporting cable telephony and because ARRIS ToIP has been tested and proven successful in field trials. After initial evaluation of ARRIS and others solutions, the FPB quickly realized ARRIS ToIP was their preferred technology.
