PRIMACOM AG SELECTS TELLABS EQUIPMENT
Tellabs to help rollout telephony and data services to PrimaCom's cable TV customers Naperville, Ill., March 14, 2002 - PrimaCom AG, one of Germany's largest cable network operators, has selected Tellabs' broadband access products and services to help it become one of the first in Europe to offer Internet-based voice and data services, which use the European Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (EuroDOCSIS) 1.1 technology, integrated with cable TV service. The project includes the purchase of the Tellabs 2410 cable voice modem, which is a standards-based device that takes voice and data traffic and transmits it using Internet Protocol (IP). Tellabs will also provide professional services that will deploy, integrate and rollout a complete Voice-over Internet Protocol (VoIP) network for PrimaCom. "We want to offer reliable telephony and high-speed data services integrated with our cable TV services to our customers," said Hans Wolfert, chief executive officer of PrimaCom.
