When Breaking into IT, The First rule is that there are no rules.

An advertising executive, charged with promoting the information technology (IT) industry, might try this slogan: "IT: it's not just for geeks anymore.". or how about this this one: "who wants bags full of money?" As the Herculean NASDAQ average indicates, information technology is legit and thriving. But the industry is hurting for workers. What is has going for it are two alluring promises: tons of jobs and very healthy salaries. It's the classic capitalist golden rule of supply and demand. Employers will attempt to fill 1.6 million new IT jobs this year, with almost 350,000 jobs currently vacant in the U.S., according to the information Technology Association of America (ITAA). Most desperate for recruits are small-to-midsize outfits 70 percent of the demand for IT workers comes from companies with fewer than 100 employees. The odds are inviting for anyone considering a career in IT, whether you're a ground-level greenhorn or someone switching gears on a current career.

Clearly, pursuing a technical certification is a feather in you cap and an effective touchstone. Certifications offer a universal measure of assurance that a job applicant possesses the acumen for working with advanced software and hardware.
